PHILADELPHIA- The Agnes Irwin Squash team captured the Inter-Ac Title yesterday with a 6-3 victory over Penn Charter. This is the Owls’ second straight Inter-Ac Title. This victory also marked the team’s 5th straight win of the season improving their record to 5-0.

Agnes Irwin's number one, Katherine Glaser (Jr.) was injured, causing the full ladder to move up one position. Matches 1-3 went in favor of Penn Charter, while matches 4-9 were dominated by Agnes Irwin, with all match results 3-0.

"It's exciting to see how far our team has come since my freshman year. It's rewarding to win the Inter-Ac, but we want to improve and keep our feet on the gas pedal,” said senior captain Caroline Glaser.

"To win our second Inter-Ac in a row was our main goal of the season.  I am so proud of the girls and happy for them for their success. They have trained extremely hard for a long time and it is nice to see that work being rewarded,” said head coach Alex Stait.

Stait lauds his team’s senior captains; Emily Coyne, Caroline Glaser and Isabella Schneider as keys to their success.

“They have helped set a great culture in our team of working hard, playing the game in the right way, and being a great teammate,” said Stait.

Winning the Inter-Ac is just one item checked off the Irwin's list. Their focus now is on the rest of the season.

"We're looking forward to nationals in February, and we want to keep pushing and improving so we can do well there. The level of play will be high, and we need to stay humble and fight for every match we play," said Glaser.

Nationals start on February 1st in Hartford CT.
