This evening Father Judge faced-off against Lansdale Catholic in the 2015 Boys Soccer Semifinals at Archbishop Ryan High School.

At the start of the game, both teams could not find a rhythm on offense and remained scoreless entering halftime. After the break, it was Judge that managed to score four minutes into the half to set its stellar offensive play in motion.

Judge, whose season remains undefeated, added on two additional goals in the second half to seal their spot in the 2015 PCL Championship game.

Hunter Dyson and George Lambritios each scored twice for Marple Newtown Saturday, helping the Tigers win their fourth straight match.

SPRINGFIELD, PENNSYLVANIA – George Lambritios spent the early part of Saturday afternoon on the soccer pitch, kicking two goals in Marple Newtown’s 4-0 victory against Cardinal O’Hara. After being substituted out of the game late in the second half, Lambritios left the field to join the Tigers’ football team. The senior forward kicked three extra points and a 31- yard field goal in Marple Newtown’s 40-0 win over Lower Merion.

Fellow senior Hunter Dyson also scored two goals, including the first of the game. After a Cardinal O’Hara foul in the penalty area, Dyson converted a penalty kick in the third minute to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Dyson has scored five goals in the past two games.

After losing players to suspension, the Tigers struggled, losing three consecutive games. After losing to Conestoga on Sept. 24, Marple Newtown has rebounded to win four consecutive games. For head coach Charlie Dodds, it comes down to the fundamentals.

“We’ve been playing a simple game, making short passes and playing two touch soccer,” Dodds said. “I think when we’re technical enough, that’s when we possess the ball, we’ll do well.”

Boys Soccer: Late Game Heroics Help O’Hara Steal Win at Bonner

DREXEL HILL, PENNSYLVANIA – After Sean Noonan’s shot found the back of the net in double overtime Tuesday night, the Cardinal O’Hara students watching from the sideline rushed the field to celebrate. A mere twenty-five minutes prior to the goal, such an ending seemed unlikely.

Head related traumas are some of the most common and most dangerous injuries that occur among athletes in the sports world. Often times, signs and effects from concussions occur days or even years after a hit. This is why identifying them is becoming more and more difficult for doctors, coaches, athletic trainers and parents. Luckily, Triax Technologies Inc., a company dedicated to developing and marketing products to ensure the safety of athletes, recently released two products, the SIM-G and SIM-P, to help monitor and prevent head injuries.

The SIM-G is a cloud-based radio frequency system that is designed to monitor an entire sports team by collecting real time data. The data is collected by a 1.27 inch monitor that is placed in a customized headband or skullcap. By using their smart phone or pad, a coach or athletic trainer is able to detect which players are getting hit and at what force in only 20 milliseconds. Thus enabling athletes to get immediate medical attention if a serious hit occurs during practice or a game.

“Most of our customers that use the SIM-G are at the college and high school level,” said Chad Hollingsworth, Vice President of Business Development and co-founder of Triax Technologies. “One thing we learned as we were running our testing early on was that there were a lot of parents coming up to us asking, ‘Hey could I buy one for my child?’ So we decided to take what we made for the team version and make a Bluetooth version for individual usage, called the SIM-P.”

Who doesn’t love showing off their athletic abilities in front of their friends and families? I know I do, and I’m sure I’m not alone.  A new sport called Teqball, a tabletop game that is a mix of Ping-Pong and soccer, allows you to do just that, find out who is the best of the best in terms of pure athletic technique.
